welcome to my list of things i've consumed this year! as of writing this, it is in fact august and i fear i will not remember everything i've seen, but that's fine! it's my website and my list and i make the rules here! kapeesh?! so, let's get into it!

  • koh-boku (4/5) - manga by sonoo michiru. old man yaoi at it's finest. a civil servant and his junior's relationship suddenly becomes cozier after a sudden medical emergency. it is mature, so keep that in mind.
  • black blood (5/5) - manga by hayate kuku. one shot. sci-fi yaoi (robot/cyborg lovers pick this one up!). a cyborg solider looking for peace moves to a tranquil planet and meets a kind botanist he becomes drawn to...and who becomes drawn to him as well. also mature.
  • cherry magic! thirty years of virginity can make you a wizard?! (5/5) - manga by yuu toyota. the year of yaoi?!. 30 year old virgin office worker wakes up one day being able to read the minds of others whenever he touches them, this is when he learns that one of his coworkers has a massive crush on him. mature as well. this is super sweet, i love romance.
  • persephone: hades' torment (3/5) - graphic novel by allison shaw. it's a one shot comic and takes a different approach to the story we all know! the concept is interesting but i think it would've made a better series than simply a one off. this is also mature.

  • dungeon meshi: season one (5/5) - fantasy anime based on a manga of the same name. tl;dr: it's about a party of adventurers who eat monsters to survive as they attempt to rescue their comrade. it has heart, comedy, drama and it's a lot of fun. i'd say this is a 16+ age rating.
  • dandadan: season one and on-going (5/5) - sci-fi/paranormal anime based on a manga of the same name. tl;dr: there's ghosts, there's aliens, there's romance, there's fighting, there's laughs, there's a ragtag group, there's a gilf... this has it all! absolute banger of an anime and the season one opening song is amazing. i'd say this is also 16+ age range.
  • younger: season one (3.5/5) - live action based on a book by pamela satran. a struggling single mother (with an adult child) decides to restart her career by pretending to be 26 years old. it's a fun dramedy! there's romance in it, obviously, but it does give a sort of commentary on what being a single mother does to a women's chance at a career. and how ageism and sexism play into this belief that a woman 40+ can not reenter the workforce once their child becomes an adult. granted it's a silly little show, so it doesn't go that deep into it but it's a fun watch regardless thus far!
  • kevin can f**k himself: season one (4/5) - live action that shoots both like a drama and a sitcom depending on who's on the screen. it's a show about a wife in an unhappy marriage with her narcissistic immature husband. every time he is on screen the show becomes a literal sitcom complete with multi-camera setup. but when he leaves and it's just the wife, it suddenly becomes a single camera drama. this show does such a fantastic job of these jarring changes and the story is so compelling! i didn't give it 5 stars because i haven't watched it's last season yet but i'm pretty sure this is going to be a clear 5 star show!

  • date everything (3.5/5) - dating sim. tl;dr you're trapped at home with special glasses that make furniture around your house come to life and you date these pieces of furniture. despite what it must sound like, this game is so really good! you have 100 dateables (or more, if you have the special edition) and i really enjoyed it. the only reason why it's rating is 3.5 is because it's still pretty bug ridden, and depending on what sort of bug you have, it stumps you from being able to finish the game in total completion. which is a shame, because it is good! as it stands, though, they need to fix those bugs because i'd actually like to finish the storylines i started!
